Every wasted staff trip to hand over a key costs more than KeyNest. Every month.

KeyNest is a UK-wide network of 7,000+ key exchange points - in shops, petrol stations and coffee outlets - where your estate agency can store and exchange keys with contractors, photographers, surveyors, tenants and buyers without a member of staff being present. Timestamped digital signature on every handover. Full key tracking from the office dashboard.

The key management problem

Key handovers are eating your negotiators' diary and your agency's time.

Waiting for a key return, driving across a patch to hand over access, calling contractors who cannot reach the office before close of business - these are daily frictions that add up to significant wasted hours every week.

Negotiators spending half an hour on a key handover

When a photographer, surveyor or contractor needs access and office hours do not align, a negotiator has to be present. That is a viewing, a valuation call or a prospecting session that does not happen.

Keys lost or unaccounted for between handovers

Without a formal tracking system, keys passed between contractors, surveyors and buyers create disputes about who had what, when. The liability sits with the agency.

Out-of-hours access is impossible without staff overtime

Evening viewings, weekend contractor visits and early-morning inspections require either staff presence or a system that works independently. Most agencies have neither.

Landlords frustrated by access delays

When a maintenance job is delayed because the contractor cannot get keys until Tuesday afternoon, the landlord calls your office. It is a relationship problem that started as a logistics problem.

How KeyNest works for your estate agency

Six features that remove staff from the key handover equation entirely.

KeyNest combines a nationwide physical network with a digital management platform. Keys are stored at a local KeyNest Point - a participating shop or petrol station - and accessed by authorised parties via a unique code, with a timestamped signature on every exchange.

1

7,000+ collection points nationwide

Over 7,000 KeyNest Points in shops, petrol stations, coffee shops and newsagents across the UK and 800 cities globally. Your keys are accessible to anyone you authorise, 24 hours a day, without staff involvement.

2

Unique access codes per collection

Each authorised person gets a unique one-time or time-limited code. When they collect the key, they sign digitally with a timestamp. You see the event in your dashboard immediately.

3

Real-time key tracking dashboard

See where every key is, who has it and when it was collected from your office or remote dashboard. Overdue keys trigger automatic reminders to the holder.

4

Integration with estate agency CRMs

KeyNest connects with major estate agency software to log key events against the relevant property record. No manual entry, full audit trail in your CRM.

5

Automated notifications

When a key is collected or returned, you and the authorising agent receive instant notifications. No need to chase contractors for confirmation.

6

Bulk storage and branding options

Agencies with high key volume can arrange dedicated storage at their nearest KeyNest Points. Custom branding available for high-volume accounts.

Getting started with KeyNest

2

Find your nearest KeyNest Points

Use the interactive map to see which shops, petrol stations and outlets nearest to your office and managed properties are KeyNest Points.

3

4

Authorise access

From your dashboard, generate a unique code for a contractor, photographer or tenant. Set the collection window. They go directly to the KeyNest Point without involving your office.

5

All collections and returns are logged with timestamps in your dashboard. Keys are returned to the same point or to your office at your instruction.

Frequently asked questions

What agents ask before they start with KeyNest.

What kind of shops are KeyNest Points? Are they secure?
KeyNest Points are typically newsagents, convenience stores, petrol station forecourts and coffee shops that have agreed to store keys using the KeyNest locked system. Keys are stored in a secure tamper-evident pouch with a unique code - the shop staff cannot open them.
What happens if a key is not returned on time?
The dashboard flags overdue keys automatically. The holder receives automated reminder messages. Your agency is notified for any key not returned within the agreed window.
Does KeyNest work for out-of-hours access?
Yes. KeyNest Points are typically open early morning to late evening, and some operate 24 hours. This makes it possible to facilitate contractor visits, morning inspections and evening viewings without office staff being present.
Can tenants and buyers use KeyNest for viewings?
Yes. Buyers and tenants can be authorised to collect a viewing key from a KeyNest Point during a defined window. The key is returned to the same point after the viewing. The timestamped log confirms access.
What integrations does KeyNest have with estate agency software?
KeyNest integrates with several major UK estate agency CRMs. The team can confirm which integrations are current at the time of your demo.
