True equality at every level of estate agency is not achieved by accident. Women in Estate Agency is the community and platform that makes it happen.

Women in Estate Agency was formed with one core mission: to strive for true equality at all levels within the estate agency sector. Through a growing Facebook community, a highly anticipated annual event, and the WiEA Supporters Charter, the organisation gives women across the industry a collective voice - and gives estate agency businesses a recognised way to demonstrate their commitment to equality.

The equality challenge in estate agency

Women make up a significant proportion of estate agency staff. They remain significantly under-represented at director and board level.

Estate agency has been a progressive sector in many ways, but gender equality at leadership level remains a work in progress. Women in Estate Agency was founded to close that gap - not by campaigning from the outside, but by building a community that supports women from the inside and gives businesses the tools to demonstrate genuine commitment.

"We want to attract and retain talented women at every level but don't have the framework to demonstrate commitment."

The WiEA Supporters Charter gives estate agency businesses a recognised, credible way to demonstrate their commitment to gender equality - through the Supporters Charter mark and access to the WiEA community.

"Our female team members don't have a peer network that understands the specific challenges of the property industry."

Generic women-in-business networks do not understand the specific dynamics of estate agency - the commission structures, the high-pressure sales environment, the weekend working norms. WiEA is built for and by people who understand the sector.

"We struggle to attract female leaders who want to join a sector with a reputation for being male-dominated."

The existence and visibility of WiEA as a thriving community is itself changing that reputation. Agencies that are visible supporters of WiEA signal a different kind of culture to potential hires.

"Our management team is having diversity conversations but lacks external benchmarks and support."

WiEA provides both an external community and a practical framework - the Supporters Charter - for businesses that want to make genuine progress rather than just announce good intentions.

How Women in Estate Agency works

Five ways WiEA builds the community, the visibility, and the framework for equality in estate agency.

WiEA operates across community, events, advocacy, and business support. Each element reinforces the others.

1

Facebook community

The WiEA Facebook group is a growing peer community where members give and receive support, share wins, seek advice, and amplify each other's voices across the industry. The community is the everyday connective tissue of WiEA.

2

Annual event

WiEA's annual event is attended by hundreds of women and men who form a collective voice for equality and diversity in the property industry. The event is a networking, learning, and celebration moment for the whole sector.

3

WiEA Supporters Charter

Businesses that join the Supporters Charter become recognised advocates for gender equality in the UK property industry. The Charter provides a framework for demonstrating commitment and the WiEA supporter mark for marketing use.

4

Sponsorship opportunities

Businesses that want to actively support the WiEA mission can engage through sponsorship of events and community initiatives. Sponsorship opportunities exist for the next two years.

5

Collective voice for change

WiEA brings individual voices together into a collective industry position on equality and diversity. This collective voice has more impact on industry norms and hiring practices than any single agency can achieve alone.

6

Industry visibility and recognition

Being a visible WiEA supporter signals a specific kind of culture to potential employees, partners, and clients. In a sector where talent is scarce and competitive, culture signalling has measurable business value.

Joining WiEA changed the conversation in our agency about what equality actually looks like in practice. Our female negotiators valued the community immediately and our director-level conversations improved because we had an external framework to reference. The annual event is excellent - the best diversity-focused event I have attended in estate agency.
